Assignment:
Choose a mentor to work on a project of your choosing with for the school year.
Process:
My mentor for this project was Justin Currie of Chasing Artwork. I had a secondary mentor for some of this project as well; GMB Chomichuk. We decided on my project being a conceptual video game, making the art for it and then constructing a concept art book in the form of an instruction booklet to present the work.
A lot of drawing went into this project which was super enjoyable. I had to design the logo, the game case cover and the cartridge, and the entire booklet. Everything was drawn, designed and constructed by me, with advice and tips from my mentors along the way. This is definitely a passion project and something I want to take much further in the future.

Adrift is a video game concept I’ve been developing over the past year. It revolves around a little ghost, recently deceased, waking up in an unfamiliar dead world that they must fight and wander through to find themselves again. It’s riddled with demons, but you meet companions along the way too.
The whole package includes a Switch game case, game cartridge, stickers, buttons and the concept art “instruction” booklet. The booklet features a lot of the work that went into the development of Adrift so far; lore, sketches, renders and details about the process.
