Assignment:

Create a three-part series; a catalogue, a process book and a peripheral item, and package it all together. The topic is open.

Process:

I wanted to do a deep dive into music videos in general, but eventually realized I’d have to narrow that scope down to remain within the given time frame. So I just focused on the 80s since it was such an influential time for music video history.

The books are printed on textured yellowed stock to create a sense of authenticity. The inside of the box is bright pink for an extra bit of pop and contrast. Both books’ dimensions are 5″x7″, similar in size to a VHS. The Evolution of the Music Video is 24 pages long, and A Dissection of Take On Me is 20 pages long. Everything is hand constructed.

Product

RadioKiller is a 3-part package revolving around music videos from the 80s. It includes a history catalogue, a deep dive into A-ha’s video for “Take on Me”, and a customized VHS tape. All items are packaged inside a VHS-style box, creating nostalgia and excitement.
